Top 5 Best Upcoming PC VR Games of 2022

The level of immersion offered by VR games is unmatched. A good VR game will literally drop you into its world, and make you feel as though you are part of its story and gameplay in ways that standard video games are just incapable of. The tradeoff for this is the relatively high cost of entry for a high-end VR setup, but if you are looking for the best video game experience available, and money is no object, something like a $1,000 Valve Index can go a long way towards providing you with the ultimate experience. But, once you have that, youโ€™re going to need some games to play on it!

Aside from the standard VR games like Beat Saber, Half-Life: Alyx, and Superhot VR, there are many PC VR games worth your time and money, and there are always more on the way. You might find your next favorite VR game on this list of the Top 5 Best Upcoming PC VR Games of 2022. Letโ€™s get started!

  1. Requisition VR

First on this list is Requisition VR, a 4-player, co-op, online survival game from the development studio Arcadia. The game takes place in a modern-day suburb after the outbreak of a mysterious virus that causes those who are infected to become zombified mutants! Youโ€™ll have to rely on your own resourcefulness and up to three other friends, using over 300 household items to hold off hordes of 10 different enemy types as well as several boss characters. The best part is, those 300 items can be combined to create hundreds of different makeshift weapons. Duct tape a plunger to a toaster to make a hammer, or load that toaster with forks and knives to make a cutlery launching cannon.

Show your destructive creativity across two game modes in early access: Short Session, in which you survive as long as you can in a single map, and Home Alone, where you do your best to defend your house from player-controlled mutants. Two more game modes will be available for the gameโ€™s full release, for a total of 4 modes. Do your best to survive without getting infected when Requisition VR storms your house in April 2022.

  1. Wanderer

Developers M-Theory and Oddboy have teamed up to make Wanderer, a time-traveling adventure with fantastic puzzle gameplay in VR. In fact, the entire game, including its escape room style puzzles, was built from the ground up to take full advantage of the capabilities and immersion of VR. In Wanderer, you play as Asher Neumann, a regular guy trying to survive in the world after humanity has become extinct due to their own carelessness. Going through his grandfatherโ€™s belongings, he finds a very special wristwatch, and a videotape that contains a message from his grandfather about how Asher can possibly finish his mission to prevent the demise of the human race. Using the clues that were left behind, and your sentient, time-traveling wristwatch, you will go on a quest that spans all of time to right what went wrong, and hopefully prevent extinction.

Get ready for VR time travel like youโ€™ve never experienced when Wanderer arrives on January 27th, 2022.

  1. RU77

Experience cyberpunk bullet hell action in Mirowinโ€™s RU77. This post-Soviet Russia VR shooter has you playing has a robotically augmented hitman named โ€œTorpedoโ€ as he rips and tears through enemy after enemy in a wonderfully violent manner. However, to stay in peak killing shape, you will need to maintain the power levels of Torpedoโ€™s augmentations, which require special medication. Unfortunately, Torpedo has no money for medicine, so you will have to use any vice you can pick up in the grungy back alleys of this future city to keep running. Everything from drugs to alcohol works just fine, and will allow you to enter a state of heightened sensory awareness called โ€œstreamโ€. Obliterate everyone who stands in your way across multiple levels, each containing their own bumping cyberpunk soundtrack.

Maim and dismember your enemies for tactical advantage and bonus points when RU77 releases on June 12th, 2022.

  1. Green Hell VR

Dive back into the terrifying, inhospitable Amazon rainforest in this VR port of the quintessential hardcore survival game from 2018: Green Hell. Green Hell VR brings everything you loved about Green Hell to PC VR with added immersion and interaction, including the highly detailed jungles, real-world survival techniques, and crafting. Use your VR controllers to wrap bandages around your arms when you are wounded, move crafting ingredients from a backpack to your crafting table to create weapons, and place fronds and branches to create your shelter.

The extra immersion adds a lot to the experience, but donโ€™t forget that danger lurks in every shadow in this dense rainforest. Whether it’s a wild animal who wants you as their next meal, or an exotic disease that will make your body slowly shut down, your demise will be swift if you arenโ€™t prepared at all times. So be prepared for anything when Green Hell VR comes to PC VR at some point in 2022.
