If you have any kind of interest in running your own theme park or business, you’ve probably stumbled into the genre of tycoon games. Games like Rollercoaster Tycoon let you craft and manage theme parks from the ground up, taking care of things like ticket prices and restrooms in addition to designing rollercoasters and the park at large.

While probably one of the most prominent examples, Rollercoaster Tycoon is just one example of the genre. There are all kinds of games that cover different businesses and ventures. If this genre is something that appeals to you, I have a few titles you should forward to on this list of the Top 5 Best Upcoming Tycoon Games in 2022. Captain of Industry

Captain of Industry is a tycoon game created by MaFi Games. In it, you will begin your own colony and accompanying factory with the remaining survivors of a shipwreck on a remote island. Locate and mine raw materials, build up factories and supply lines, and keep your workers/citizens happy to maintain a steady level of production.

With enough grit and determination, your small colony can grow into a bustling hub of industry, to the point where you’re able to start your own space program! All of the managing and manufacturing is currently available in Steam Early Access, with a full release date scheduled for May 2022.

Park Beyond

Limbic Entertainment and Bandai Namco’s Park Beyond is an evolution of the park building sim sub-genre started by Rollercoaster Tycoon. With modern, lifelike graphics and easy-to-learn mechanics, Park Beyond allows you to build the theme park of your dreams! Design and build rollercoasters that don’t have to abide by the laws of physics, and rides that rightly wouldn’t be allowed to exist in the real theme parks.

A full story mode campaign will teach you the ropes while introducing you to a helpful, wacky cast of characters. This company has nothing to lose, and you’re just the right person to build the park that will save them. Park Beyond is scheduled to release sometime in 2022 for Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Two Point Campus

Another entry to the wacky Two Point series started by Two Point Games and SEGA is the upcoming Two Point Campus. Whereas the previous game, Two Point Hospital, had you building and managing your own hospital full of experimental treatments and wacky character interactions, Two Point Campus does a similar thing for the college experience.

You’ll build a university from the ground up, creating the grounds, selecting the courses, and enrolling crazy characters with bright futures. Whether you want to be a university that specializes in medicine, robotics, or witchcraft, Two Point Campus makes it possible. The game will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series consoles, and Xbox One, as well as PC in August of 2022.

Laysara: Summit Kingdoms

Created by Quite OK Games, Laysara: Summit Kingdoms is a game that will have you creating and managing your own civilization with a three-caste system. The twist here is, that the settlements you are in charge of will be precariously built into the side of treacherous mountains. You’ll have to consider elevation, possible avalanches and weather complications, as well the space required to keep your people happy while you plan out supply and production chains.

There are multiple mountains to contend with in the game, and each one will need its own unique approach and strategy to conquer. The transport system that worked for one mountain may not work for the next, so your creativity will also play a part in the success of your settlements. Laysara: Summit Kingdom is scheduled to release sometime in 2022 on Steam.

Prehistoric Kingdom

The final game on this list takes its DNA from the Zoo Tycoon and Planet Zoo line of games. In Blue Meridian and Crytivo’s Prehistoric Kingdom, you will build and manage a park specifically for extinct animals. Specifically, dinosaurs and their immediate cousins. This is no Jurassic Park, as your park will be mostly peaceful and educational. There are over 20 species of prehistoric wildlife to bring back and take care of, and you can manipulate their genetics to customize each species.

Modular building tools and comprehensive terrain management will let you construct buildings for study and research as well as housing for your many animals. Each species will have its own needs, and you can grow your own jungles for animals that require that kind of climate. Prehistoric Kingdom is currently available in Steam Early Access, with no set release date for the full game.
