Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt: Beginner's Guide - 5 Tips and Tricks

It’s a great time to be a World of Darkness fan. In addition to the recent Vampire: The Masquerade games of the past few years, there is a narrative RPG releasing in May called Swansong, and a free-to-play battle royale set in the same universe called Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt.

Due to its free-to-play nature, the competition in Bloodhunt is fierce, with battle royale fans colliding with World of Darkness fans in a bloody battle for supremacy. If you’re looking to get into Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt, you might be looking for some guidance on how to survive and climb the ranks.

Thankfully, there are a few things that might help you in this Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt Beginner’s Guide! If you’re ready to jump in and become the last vampire standing, then let’s get started.

  1. Pick a Suitable Class

This first tip might seem obvious, but it will help you quite a bit in the long run. If you know you tend to lean towards a particular kind of gameplay, whether that be up-close and personal, speedy and ranged, or even a support class, you should select the corresponding class in Bloodhunt. There are 6 total to choose from, and chances are at least one of them will seem appealing to you.

Playing a class that you are comfortable with rather than experimenting and maybe getting stuck in a class that doesn’t jive with your sensibilities is going to give you your best shot at picking up the game mechanics quickly so that you can start dominating the competition.

  1. Learn How to Move

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt has a very unique movement system. Once it is mastered, it allows you to strong moves in such a way that allows you to move at lightning speed across the map, dodging bullets and flinging yourself over impossible chasms. Of course, you won’t be achieving this level of locomotion right away. It will take time, and your early matches should be spent learning how certain moves flow together to pick up speed as quickly as possible.

Here’s a helpful hint. When running on flat ground, you are able to do a slide move that gives you a boost of speed and also serves as a kind of evade if you’re in danger. This move is also usable when jumping between walls. If you slide down the side of a wall and then jump, you’ll get a speed boost and some extra height on your wall jump.

  1. Build Resonance Wisely

A facet of the game that many newbies will overlook is the Resonance system. Resonance is a series of buffs that affect your many abilities, and you are able to build these buffs by feeding on humans that contain the corresponding Resonance. You can tell which Resonance a human has before you feed on them, you’ll just need to enter Heightened Vision, and their Resonance will be outlined.

You can achieve as much as a 50% cooldown to your most helpful abilities and even gain health regeneration when you build up Resonance tiers, which will go a long way towards helping you overcome the competition.

  1. Maintain the Masquerade

For those who aren’t familiar with Vampire: The Masquerade or the World of Darkness series, the Masquerade is a series of rules the vampires live by that allow them to stay in the shadows. These rules mainly pertain to being seen using powers or feeding in the view of humans, which will cause the existence of vampires to become known.

This is also a mechanic in Bloodhunt, as if you feed or use powers in front of a human, you will become bloodhunted. This status will make you visible on everyone’s minimap, making it extremely difficult for you to get the drop on anybody. So, it’s a good idea to avoid being seen as much as possible.

  1. Heal Yourself

In Bloodhunt, there are several different ways to heal yourself after you’ve taken damage. There are blood bags and syringes, which give you a chunk of health and temporary health regen respectively. You can also temporarily become impervious to the encroaching red gas by using a red gas grenade, and get extra hit points by equipping armor plates.

Those are all items you can find in the field, but if you’re dying and need to heal fast, you can feed on humans to instantly refill all of your health. Diablerizing opponents when they are down will also restore all of your health. Just be sure not to break the Masquerade!
