NBA 2K23: How to Do a Putback Dunk

A Putback dunk is quite risky, especially since there is a high chance of failure to execute it in the first place. It’s not only about timing; you’ll have to get lucky to land that shot, and this guide will teach you how to increase your odds of getting the shot right.

NBA 2K23: CONTACT DUNK REQUIREMENTS

Firstly, line up a missed shot from one of your teammates.

As the ball is approaching the hoop, spring towards the paint, hold down R2/RB and press the Square or X button to shoot the ball.

If you manage to line the shot up correctly, then the putback dunk animation will play out.

You’ll also have to equip a few badges to increase your odds of making the shot. Here is the list:

Aerial Wizard	It enhances your ability to land putbacks and alley oops.
Putback Boss	Boosts your putback shot percentage right after an offensive rebound. Players attempting a putback dunk or layup have their attributes increased after an offensive rebound.

Furthermore, you cannot simply buy any dunk animation from the store. Contact Dunk animations come with an extra set of requirements that you must fulfill if you want to purchase them. Here is a list of all the requirements:

If possible, use Draymond Green’s dunks. You’ll have to be at least 6’5 or above and maintain a 50+ rating on both standing and driving dunks. The package includes standing, driving and, most importantly of all, contact dunks.

Even perfectly timed blocks won’t be able to stop you, making the dunk the perfect choice for all occasions.
