How to Do a Fadeaway in NBA 2K23

The fadeaway is an overpowered move that can make you unstoppable in the mid-range, especially if you have a size and strength advantage over the defender. Executing the shot can be a bit difficult, though, since you have to time it properly. Let’s take a look at how to do fadeaways consistently.

HOW TO DO A FADEAWAY IN NBA 2K23

Depending on which side of the basket you are located, there are two different ways to do a fadeaway.

FADE LEFT

PLAYSTATION 4 & 5

Hold down L2 to pull back from the defender. Push the Right Stick to the left while holding down L2 to do a fadeaway. You can also use the Square button to shoot the ball.

The fadeaway also has a shot meter, which means you’ll have to time it properly to land the shot. Some players prefer the shot button, but with enough practice, the right stick can give you better accuracy.

XBOX ONE & SERIES X I S

Hold down LT to pull back from the defender. Push the Right Stick to the left while holding down LT to do a fadeaway. You can also use the X button to shoot the ball.

HOW TO DO A POST FADEAWAY IN NBA 2K23

Hold down LT/L2 to post up and back down from the defender. Once you’re a bit away from the hoop, hold down the Left Stick away from the basket and use the Right Stick or the Square/X button to shoot a fadeaway.

HOW TO DO A STEP-OVER FADEAWAY IN NBA 2K23

Tap the Right Stick towards your pivot foot for the step-over.

Hold down L2/LT during the step-over to hide the post up. Finally, hold down the Right Stick towards the opposite direction for the fade.

You can even hold the L2/LT mid animation to blend the step-over and post entry.
