Captain Blood Beginner’s Guide: Controls & Quick Tips

Ready to set sail in Captain Blood? Great. It’s pirate action from start to finish – sword fighting, shooting, and causing chaos… here’s the control & basics rundown to get you started.

All PC Settings

Moving & Looking

• Move: Get around with [W], [A], [S], [D]. Simple.

• Look/Aim: Move your Mouse to look where you want and aim your shots.

Sword Fighting: The Basics

• Attack: Left click [LMB] and right click [RMB] to swing your sword. Use them together.

• Block: Press [Q] to block attacks and bullets. Simply bear in mind, some big enemy attacks will crash right through your block.

• Dodge: Press [Spacebar] along with movement ([W], [A], [S], or [D]) to roll out of the way. Useful for dodging big attacks or just getting some space…

• Counter: Time to counter? Hit [Q] right when an enemy attack is about to hit your block -> you’ll knock ’em back & get a free hit. Good timing!

Guns & Grenades

• Pistol: Target an enemy and hit [Ctrl] to shoot your pistol… takes a sec to reload so make your shots count.

• Triple Shot (Needs Upgrade): Press [Ctrl] right after a shot hits for a quick triple fire burst after upgrading.

• Grenades: Press [Shift] to throw grenades. Excellent for crowds -> but you don’t have many, so use ’em sparingly.

Special Moves

• Execute (Normal Guys): When an enemy is low on health; get close and press [E] to finish them off quickly.

• Execute (Tough Guys): For tougher enemies, you can only execute ([E]) when they’re very low on health and you see the special Death Icon appear above them. Then just follow button prompts for the neat finishers you’ve bought.

• Rage Mode: Build up the Rage meter (top of your health) through combat then hit [R] to go crazy!! You won’t hurt and you’ll hit harder, but it doesn’t last long. Excellent for big fights or bosses.

Using Stuff & Breaking Things

• Interact/Pick Up: Walk up to items with names floating above them (gold, weapons, bottles, etc.) and hit [E] to take it or use it.

• Gold: Use this at the shop on upgrades. Gather it all!

• Bottles: Heal or get rage back.

• Grenades: More boom!

• Dropped Weapons: Collect enemy weapons using [E]. They’re helpful but degrade after a while.

• Throwable Objects: Some objects that you can pick up with [E] & throw at baddies using [LMB] / [RMB] click. Good times.

• Break Doors: Need to get through a door? Get close, press [E], then spam [LMB] like crazy. The faster you click, the faster it breaks.

• Use Cannons: Use cannons by pressing [E] at the back of them… Aim with the Mouse, hold [RMB] to fire. Press [E] again to get off.

• Use Rams: Use rams with [E]. Swing ’em with the Mouse or [A]/[D] to knock down gates.

Quick Tips to Start

• Use Your Defense: Block [Q] and dodge [L] a lot. Don’t just take a beating.

• Use Your Pistol: Shoot dudes [Ctrl] from afar first, especially annoying ones.

• Finish ‘Em Off: Use [E] on weak enemies to dispose of them fast.

• Grab All the Loot: Gold means upgrades. Search everywhere.

• Use Stuff Wisely: Don’t waste grenades [Shift] or Rage [R] on trivial brawls.

• [E] Does a Lot: Remember [E] is for picking up things, executions, cannons, doors, etc.
