But for now, the base game has plenty of goofs and gaffs to keep us occupied for quite a while. Extra In-Game Information

Despite its goofy exterior and all of the wacky happenings in Two Point Campus, it really is a complex management sim at heart. That means that there are layers upon layers of mechanics and effects that will take some time to learn and get used to.

To mitigate this learning curve, you can hover over just about any option or item in the game to get a better description of what it does or some of the effects it will have. For instance, not every piece of furniture or equipment will have additional benefits attached to it, but hovering over it before you buy it will let you know for sure. This is great to optimize your spending on things that benefit your school in the early hours of the game.

PAUSE!!!

In Two Point Campus, entire years pass by in a matter of minutes. This can be easily overwhelming, especially when you have to wear so many hats and juggle so many duties all at once. Thankfully, the developers don’t require that you work and make decisions at lightning speed.

Like many management sims, Two Point Campus has a pause button that will freeze time for as long as you need to get your bearings, set up or complete construction projects, and tend to the individual needs of your staff and students. You should also use this time to survey your entire school to make sure there aren’t any fires (literally and figuratively) that need to be put out.

Start With the Essentials

You shouldn’t go hog-wild right at the beginning of your first playthrough. Make sure that you are first constructing the essential buildings like libraries, bathrooms, and dormitories first before going in on frivolous extras.

Another good thing to note is that you’ll want to start small. You can always expand buildings and rooms when the need arises, so keep that in mind when designing those essential buildings for the first time.

Room Sanitation and Happiness

For every room you build, whether it be a dormitory, library, or lecture hall, there are a few things you should add to increase that room’s prestige score and make your students and staff happier overall. Some of the best items won’t even cost you very much at all!

Every room should have at least a trash can, some posters, and some kind of plant. Trash cans keep the room clean, posters increase the room’s attractiveness score and don’t need any maintenance, and plants also increase attractiveness but require a bit of maintenance. After those are installed, you can also think about adding rugs and hand sanitizer to the mix for extra attractiveness and sanitation, respectively.

Money, Money, Money. Moneeey

This guide so far has spoken quite a bit about saving money and optimizing your spending. This is important because just like in real life, everything in Two Point Campus revolves around money and spending.

For that reason, it is recommended that you save up money when it starts coming in, just in case you need it in an emergency (like a mishap in the Mad Scientist building). At least $30,000 is recommended, but if you just can’t manage to save that much up and you need money in a pinch, you can take out a loan and pay it off over time at an exorbitant interest rate. Just like in real life!

Keep Your Students Happy

The tuition all of your students pay is where the majority of your income will come from. And, if they aren’t happy, they’ll just get up and leave, and you’ll be out of a cash cow. So make sure you keep them happy with student lounges, clubs, and other amenities so that they are happy to part with thousands of dollars semi-frequently or put themselves in crushing debt that will take decades to pay off.

Mike has been playing video games since he was able to hold a controller, having been fascinated by Sonic 2 on his mom’s Sega Genesis. That fascination and passion for the art form has grown exponentially nearly 30 years later, and he doesn’t see that fading away anytime soon.
