MapleStory 2 – How to Change the Thumbnail of Your UGC Design

You can change the thumbnail of your UGC design by doing the following:

1. Enter the Maple Workshop

2. Select the design template you would like to create.

3. Select the appropriate design image for your template.

4. (Notice the thumbnail/item icon changed above the Show Photo Widget checkbox to reflect your design)

5. Navigate to your installation directory C:\Nexon\Library\maplestory2\appdata\Custom (default installation directory)

6. Edit the camera_icon.png to your liking (this is the thumbnail)

7. Save the camera_icon.png

8. (Notice the item icon in-game above the Show Photo Widget does not reflect the edits you have made)

9. Enter the item’s name

10. Click Create \ Yes

11. (Notice the item icon / thumbnail showed in-game after successful creation does reflect the changes you have made to the camera_icon.png

Additional Comments:

Make sure after editing and saving the camera_icon.png that you DO NOT select another design or use click the camera button on the photo widget as this will update the camera_icon.png and you will have to edit it again.

You can also make your own thumbnail (175 x 176 pixels) separately and then rename your file to “camera_icon.png” and follow the steps above but replace the camera_icon.png in the directory stated on Step 5 with yours instead and then continue with Step 7.
