The Game Kitchen
The Game Kitchen is the twisted genius indie team behind Blasphemous, the brutally beautiful pixel-art Metroidvania that turned religious horror into an art form. Based in Spain (Seville, to be exact), this squad has been crafting dark, atmospheric games since 2010, blending haunting storytelling with gorgeous 2D visuals and a lot of pixelated pain.
Before they brought us The Penitent One and his guilt-fueled rampage through Cvstodia, they made waves with The Last Door, a creepy point-and-click series with strong Lovecraft vibes. But Blasphemous is what really put them on the map—thanks to its grotesque art, Spanish Catholic influence, and boss fights that make you scream (in pain and admiration).
What sets The Game Kitchen apart? They actually care about the dev process. No crunch. No burnout. Just a passionate team making games they believe in—filled with cultural depth, emotional weight, and the kind of combat that slaps (and stabs). And they’re not slowing down. Blasphemous II raised the bar again in 2023, and now they’re also diving into the VR world with All On Board! and cooking up something spooky called Tormenture.
If you’re into deep lore, handcrafted horror, and pixel art that makes your jaw drop while your character gets wrecked—The Game Kitchen is serving up exactly what you need.
