FIFA 20 Defending Tutorial | How to Defend Effectively
/How to Play Good Defense
These six commands are the first things you need to master in order to be good at defending in FIFA 20.
— Standing Tackle – Press B/Circle
— Jockey – Hold LT/L2
— Contain – Press A/X
— Sliding Tackle – Press X/Square
— Second man press – Hold RB/R1
— Player switching – Either press LB/L1, or move the Right Stick in the direction of the defender you’d like to switch to.
One of the crucial parts of defending is learning how to move your Keeper.
This is a game winner/loser in every top-level match of FIFA and is something everyone needs to master.
If you don’t, the chances are your opponent has and it will decide the game.
It’s so simple to do. You press in the right stick giving you complete control of the keeper.
This is important when you see someone go through your defence and they are one on one with your keeper.
Switching players is also an important aspect of defending properly. You can switch players by either pressing LB, which will switch you to the secondary defender (now indicated by a second smaller arrow) or by using the right stick, which will switch you to a defender in the direction you moved the right stick.
When the distance between you and your opponent is relatively short, use LB; when your opponent is sending the ball across the field or away from you, use the right stick. This will take some time to master correctly.
One of the easiest ways to win the ball back is to attack the first touch. If you have a player close to your opponent when he receives the ball, try to anticipate where the first touch is going and put in a tackle. The first touch is one of the best opportunities you will have to win the ball back from your opponent.
